1st-5th Grade Program
LEVEL A
Children in this fun curriculum learn to recognize letters, beginning phonics, and 2-3 letter sight words. Your child will learn to read simple words and short sentences and will develop a love of books and reading.
Coach Read Aloud: Your child will have an opportunity to listen as the literacy coach models fluency from a book of their choice.
Alphabet: symbols and sounds (including vowel sounds).
Student Read Aloud: Reading will be in alignment with the lesson.
Sight words Review: Your child will practice sight words
Learn to read * Phonics * Sight words
Level B
In this fun curriculum, your child will become a strong independent reader. Children in this program learn phonics and sight words and develop reading fluency and comprehension. Your child will gain confidence, and develop a love of books and reading.
“I am learning/practicing how to tackle each word in a sentence, each sentence in a paragraph, each paragraph on a page, and of course each page in a book”.
Coach Read Aloud: Students can listen as the literacy coach models fluency from a book of their choice.
Alphabet: symbols and sounds (including vowel sounds)
Word Review/Worksheet students: Students will review words based on their area of weakness (ex. The digraph (ph) has the sound of (f). ph = f Words to review: phone, graph).
Spelling: The student will then spell words that have been reviewed previously.
Student Read Aloud: Reading will be in alignment with the lesson.
Sight words Review: Students will practice words missed in the assessment.
Phonics * Sight words * Comprehension * Fluency
LEVEL C
Your child will become a skilled, enthusiastic reader in this fun and effective program. Children in this program develop long-word decoding skills, reading fluency, and strong comprehension. Your child will gain confidence, be more successful in school, and develop a love of books and reading.
Coach Read Aloud: Students can listen as the literacy coach models fluency from a book of their choice.
Sight words Review: Students will practice words missed in the assessment.
Learn Skill: Coach will review and or teach a skill (etc. Sequence of Event)
Student Read Aloud: The student will choose a grade-appropriate book.
Worksheet Completion: Students will complete the worksheet after reading the book, article, or poem.
